The MathLink Cubes Numberblocks 1-10 Activity Set is a linking-cube set that lets children build the number characters from the Numberblocks TV series with their own hands. The 100 cubes come in the Numberblocks colours and connect on every side. Faceplates, stickers and the small number symbols called Numberlings turn a tower of cubes into a character that looks just like it does on screen.
The interesting part is what happens while they build: children see how numbers are put together. Four is a square, Five is Four plus One, Ten is two Fives. A television favourite becomes a quantity you can hold, take apart and rebuild. The set contains 198 pieces, including 15 write-and-wipe activity cards with 30 activities from series 1 to 3, and it is made in China.

Counting, partitioning numbers and putting them back together, first addition and subtraction, odd and even numbers, comparing more and less: all of it happens through the hands rather than on a worksheet. A child who builds Six and splits it into two Threes has understood the sum before it ever appears as a written exercise.
The 30 activities on the cards are linked to episodes from series 1 to 3, so children recognise scenes they already know and pick up the maths behind them. The character cards introduce each Numberblock on its own, and the wipe-clean surface invites repetition.
The set is for Numberblocks fans who want to build their favourite characters themselves, for parents who would like to turn screen time into real counting, and for teachers working with numbers up to 10. It is ideal for use at home or in the classroom.
As a birthday or Christmas present it is a safe choice in any household where the series is on. One thing to note: the set contains small parts, so it is not for toddlers who still put everything in their mouths.
Watch an episode and then build exactly the Numberblock it was about: the number sticks far better that way. Ask how many ways there are to build Five and work with two colours, so the answer is visible at once. Write on the activity cards with a whiteboard marker, wipe them clean and start again. And once all ten characters are standing, there are cubes left over from the 100 to lay out sums beside them. If other MathLink sets are already in the house, mix the cubes in, since the 2 cm edge is the same throughout.

Do the cubes fit other MathLink Cubes? Yes, these are standard MathLink Cubes with 2 cm edges and they combine with other MathLink sets.
