Kanoodle is a logic puzzle game for one player, and it needs nothing more than twelve colourful pieces. With them come a game board inside a fold-out case and a 48-page puzzle book with 200 challenges in 2D and 3D. The challenges start out simple and get harder step by step, until even practised puzzlers have to sit and think. There is no screen involved, no batteries and no time pressure.
Because the whole game weighs just 160 g and every piece has its place inside the closed case, it travels easily on train journeys, through waiting times and on holiday. It suits children of school age who are building their spatial reasoning as much as adults looking for a real challenge. Kanoodle is made in Taiwan.
Everything you need sits inside the case. No extra accessories are required, and there is nothing to charge or replace.

The game contains small parts, so it is not meant for toddlers.
You pick a challenge in the book. It shows which pieces go where on the board, and that is your starting position. The real work begins afterwards: the remaining pieces have to go in so that every hole on the board ends up filled. Plenty of arrangements look promising and lead nowhere.
The first challenges are played flat on the 2D area. Later you move to the pyramid grid and build in three dimensions, which pushes the number of possible combinations much higher. Since the 200 challenges are ordered by difficulty, you notice your progress without keeping score.
Kanoodle is a solitaire game: one person puzzles, quietly and for as long as they like. It still works for two if you take turns or race each other through the same challenge. In the classroom it fills the gap for children who finish early, or covers a quiet spell.
As a gift it goes to puzzle fans, as a small birthday present, as something to pack for a trip or as the filling for a large advent calendar door.
Work through the challenges in order rather than skipping ahead: they build on each other and teach you patterns of thinking you will need later. Look at the whole board before you place your first piece and fill the tight corners first, keeping the more adaptable shapes for the end.
If a challenge refuses to come together, do not dismantle everything at once; swap the last two pieces you placed. After playing, put every piece back in the case and close it, and the set stays complete. If you are giving Kanoodle to a child, set up an easy challenge on the board beforehand so the first success comes straight away.
