Gears! Mega Builds Construction Set with 235 Pieces
This product will be released on 11 November 2026
The Gears! Mega Builds construction set is a 235-piece building kit for spinning robots, cars and machines. It is the largest set in the Gears! range so far, bringing together colourful gears, connectors and base plates along with wheels and chains or treads, which combine into new constructions again and again.
Gears mesh with one another and pass movement along. With this kit children assemble that interplay with their own hands and try it out. Everything is turned by hand, so no motor and no batteries are needed. That makes this STEM toy appealing to grown-ups too, who can sit down and build alongside the children.
With 235 pieces, Mega Builds is the biggest kit in the Gears! family. It includes colourful gears, connectors and base plates that form the basis of every construction, plus wheels and chains or treads. A STEM activity guide with building suggestions is included.
- 235 pieces to build and combine
- Colourful gears, connectors and base plates
- Wheels plus chains and treads
- STEM activity guide with building suggestions
- Compatible with all other Gears! construction sets
- No motor and no batteries, everything is turned by hand
- Not suitable for children under 3 years, choking hazard from small parts
There are two ways to start: copy the suggestions in the STEM activity guide step by step, or set the guide aside and build a creation of your own, for example a car on wheels, a vehicle on treads or a machine that turns.
Both routes get children planning movement and trying out parts. The set encourages critical thinking and early engineering skills, along with technical understanding and logical thinking.
The kit is made for young tinkerers at nursery and primary school age who like to build, rebuild and see what moves. Because every piece is compatible with all other Gears! construction sets, the collection of parts grows with each additional box.
The number of pieces also makes the set useful for schools, nurseries and STEM clubs: it suits school groups and shared play, where each child builds part of the machine. As a present it works for birthdays, Christmas and Easter. It is not suitable for children under 3 years because of the small parts.
If this is a first time with gears, the STEM activity guide offers suggestions to copy; free creations usually follow on their own. For group building it helps to spread the 235 pieces across several trays, so every child has gears and connectors within reach.
If there is already a Gears! kit at home, the two sets can be joined into one bigger machine, as the pieces are compatible with each other. And because every construction can be taken apart and built again, the present keeps going well beyond the birthday itself.
