The Lowercase Lacing Alphabet by Learning Resources brings 260 colourful lowercase letters made of sturdy plastic and 15 rainbow laces in a handy storage bucket. Children from age 3 first lace by colour and shape, then their own name, later whole words — training hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills while getting to know the letters along the way. Because they are lowercase letters, the set matches exactly what children need first when learning to read.
- 260 plastic lowercase letters a–z in 10 colours (common letters included several times)
- 15 rainbow-coloured laces with firm tips for easy threading
- Storage bucket with lid — everything stays together
Recognising and naming letters, matching sounds, "writing" names and first words, making rhymes, laying patterns and sequences (a-b-a-b), sorting and counting. The letters are sized for small hands; lacing builds exactly the finger strength later needed for writing. The set works for individual play as well as small groups in preschool.
Children from age 3 at home, in playgroups, nursery, reception and Year 1, speech therapy and EAL support. Also popular as craft material for name necklaces and keyrings.
Are all letters included equally often? No — common letters such as a, e, n, s appear more often, rare ones like q, x, y less often, so many words can be laid at the same time.
Are there accented letters? The set contains the 26 letters a–z; umlauts can be added with a marker dot on a spare letter.
Do the letters fit other laces? Yes, the hole is big enough for standard laces and pipe cleaners.
- Name necklace: a child's own name is the first word they proudly lace.
- Letter soup: hide letters in a bowl of dry beans and fish them out with fine motor tweezers.
- Rhyming words: "cat – hat – mat": lace the same endings in the same colour.
Age: 3+. Brand: Learning Resources.
