This anatomy model set contains four plastic models to assemble: a heart, a brain, a human body and a skeleton. Each one is put together piece by piece by hand and then placed on its own stand. The models are realistic and worked out in detail, so shape and structure can be followed directly on the finished object.
The set is made for children of school age who like to find out for themselves what happens under the skin. As an anatomy model for children it works twice over: every part passes through their fingers during the build, and afterwards the finished models stand on show in the room instead of disappearing into a drawer. The step by step instructions work with photographs. Each picture shows which part comes next. Anyone who prefers to build in pairs can share out the steps and keep the instructions on the table between them.
Once a model is finished it goes onto its stand and stays there. The matching booklet supplies anatomical facts that can be followed directly on the object in front of you. At 23 cm the skeleton is the largest piece in the set and the brain at 9.5 cm the smallest; the human body measures 11 cm and the heart 12.5 cm.
The miniature models take up little room and fit on a desk, a shelf or a classroom cupboard. For young scientists it is a present that asks for some work after unwrapping and then stays around. As a learning toy about the human body it suits a birthday, Christmas or the start of a new school year. The set contains small parts and is not intended for toddlers.
Build on a bright, level surface and lay out the parts of one model side by side before you start. Tackle one model at a time so that the pieces of the four kits stay properly separated.
Put the finished models with their stands where they will be seen often and keep the booklets next to them. If you are giving the set away, let one model be unwrapped first and save the other three for a second afternoon of building.
