Organic Tea Advent Calendar Duo

Every door is its own little box with its own number and its own pattern. The flavours run from spices such as cinnamon, ginger and clove through red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and blackcurrant to citrus fruits such as orange, lemon and grapefruit, plus floral notes.

The recipes carry French names. The herbal infusions are called Caresse divine, Douceur enfantine, Folklore parfumé, Petit bonheur, Cristal givré, Forêt enchantée, Étoiles filantes, Lueurs dorées, Lumière céleste, Mots doux, Tendre étreinte and Conte merveilleux; the teas are Rêve d'une nuit, Joie infinie, Baiser sucré, En chœur, Trésor délicat, Parfum sacré, Douce euphorie, Désir d'infini, Aura éblouissante, Danse gracieuse, Poésie féerique and Exquise ribambelle.

Use one bag per 200 ml of water at 95 to 100 degrees and let it steep for 6 to 8 minutes. The double-chamber bags are made of paper with a honeycomb embossing and are stitched rather than glued; according to the manufacturer they are biodegradable and plastic-free. The envelopes are recyclable and printed with plant-based ink.

The petrol green box shows a Christmas tree motif with gold embossing and opens out into three panels of numbered little boxes. At 28.5 x 28.5 x 13 cm it takes up a fair amount of table when open, yet it is the kind of piece you happily leave on display. Total weight is 640 g, of which 84.8 g is tea.

Fix a regular tea time that suits your day: put the water on, set out two cups and pour both bags at once. For two cups that means twice 200 ml of water at 95 to 100 degrees, with both bags steeping for 6 to 8 minutes side by side. If you want to remember which of the 24 recipes you liked best, write the number of the day on the empty little box. As a present, hand the calendar over before 1 December so that no door goes unopened. Extra wrapping paper is hardly needed, since the petrol green box with its gold embossing speaks for itself. Before the first opening, pick a spot where the three panels can be opened out fully.
