Mini Sunflower Growing Kit – Bring some sunshine indoors! This cute mini kit contains a terracotta pot, a coconut soil tablet and sunflower seeds – everything you need for your own little sunflower.
Simply soak the soil tablet with water, plant the seeds and place in a sunny spot. The compact set makes the perfect little gift or party favour.
How to grow
- Soak the coconut tablet: Place the tablet in the pot and add water. It swells to 5 times its volume in minutes.
- Plant seeds: Push 2–3 seeds about 1–2 cm deep into the loose soil.
- Keep moist: Water regularly, keep soil evenly moist.
- Sunny spot: Sunflowers love sun! At least 6 hours of direct light.
- Germination: First seedlings appear after 7–10 days.
About Sunflowers
Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus) are true wonders of nature. Young sunflowers actually turn to follow the sun throughout the day – a phenomenon called heliotropism. In the morning they face east, by evening they face west, and at night they rotate back. Once the flower is fully developed, it stays permanently facing east.
A single sunflower head is actually made up of up to 2,000 tiny individual flowers, arranged in perfect Fibonacci spirals – maths in nature!

How tall will it grow in the small pot?
In the 6 cm pot, it reaches 20–40 cm. For full size (up to 2 m), repot after 3–4 weeks into a larger container or garden bed.
When will it bloom?
About 6–8 weeks after sowing, depending on variety and light conditions.
Is it a dwarf variety?
The seeds in the kit are a classic sunflower variety. In the small pot it stays more compact, but can be repotted for full size.
Can I eat the seeds later?
Yes! When the flower fades and seeds mature (brown shells), you can harvest and roast them.
Can I keep it indoors?
For germination, yes. Later, sunflowers need as much direct sunlight as possible – best on the balcony or terrace.
Suitable for children?
Perfect for kids from age 4 (with supervision). Sunflowers germinate quickly and visibly – ideal as a first garden project.
