Five hand puppets, five feelings: this set brings Loved, Excited, Frustrated, Nervous and Lonely into play as soft puppets. Each one wears its emotion clearly on its face, which is what makes feelings so tangible for children. Instead of talking about moods, they pick up a puppet and let it say what they sometimes struggle to put into words themselves.
Each puppet stands around 25 cm tall and is shaped so that small hands can work it easily, and grown-up hands too. Through guided role play, free play and storytelling, the vocabulary for emotions grows step by step, and with it the ability to recognise, name and make sense of feelings. The five puppets are made in China and weigh around 400 g together.
The set holds five hand puppets, each with its own facial expression. Together they cover moods that come up constantly in a child's day: affection, anticipation, annoyance, uncertainty and the feeling of being on your own. There is a fitting figure for almost every situation.

One puppet tells the group how its day went and the children guess the feeling. Or two puppets meet: what does the nervous one say to the excited one? Harder moments can be acted out as well, an argument, a goodbye or a lost cuddly toy, without the child having to be the centre of attention.
That small step back is what makes hand puppets so useful at home, in nursery, at school and in therapy: the child speaks through the puppet and therefore more easily about itself. In guided role play an adult sets the topic, while in free play and storytelling the scenes appear on their own.
