White Advent Calendar Candle in a Glass

The candle arrives ready in its glass, so no holder is needed. The white paraffin candle sits inside the tall cylindrical glass, which carries the red row of numbers from 1 to 24 and so maps out the entire month. It stands 21 cm tall, measures 6 cm across and weighs 400 g.

What you get is one calendar candle in its glass, with the round tag already hanging from its cord. There is nothing to assemble: the moment December begins, it is ready to light.

• Height 21 cm, diameter 6 cm
• Weight 400 g
• Burning time 60 hours
• Paraffin wax, candle in white
• Numbers 1 to 24 in red on the glass
• Round tag with a fir tree in a pot on a cord
• Included: 1 calendar candle in a glass

The idea is simple. You light the candle, let it burn and put it out again once the number of the day has been reached. A short evening moment turns into a small ritual that repeats itself day after day, with nothing to unwrap and nothing to eat.

Because the numbers sit on the outside of the glass, your progress stays visible even when the candle is not lit. The fir tree tag stays on its cord all month and makes the glass a piece of decoration in its own right.

The calendar candle suits families who count down the days together and anyone who likes Scandinavian Christmas decorating: plain white, clear red figures and one graphic little tag. It works as something to bring along to a first Advent visit, as a Secret Santa gift or simply as your own companion through December. The restrained look sits happily beside fir greenery, stars or plain candlesticks, and if you live on your own it gives the evening a quiet fixed point.

Put the candle on a level, heat-resistant surface and never leave it burning unattended. A spot out of draughts keeps the flame steady, and move the glass away from curtains and branches before you light it.

For gifting, a ribbon around the glass is enough, since the fir tree tag already does the decorating. Hand it over in late November so the first of December is not missed, and keep using the candle after Advent for as long as there is wax in the glass.
