Green Christmas Napkins with Winter Landscape

Rather than a repeating pattern, the napkin carries one small winter story. The sage green sky gives the whole scene its calm tone, while the white church and the houses sit quietly in the background. In the foreground a bare tree is strung with small red flags, and the figure in the red hat pulls the sledge across the snow. Those few touches of red pick up the classic Christmas colours and add warmth to the green and white without taking over. The result looks festive and still restrained, which makes the napkins easy to add to a table you have already decorated.

Each napkin measures 33 x 33 cm and is made of three layers of paper. The pack comes in a clear OPP film bag. At 33 x 33 cm the napkins are the familiar size for a laid table, so they fold and sit exactly as you would expect.

At Christmas dinner they sit beside the plate or folded on top of it; at Advent coffee they come to the table with biscuits and candlelight. With 20 napkins in the pack there are enough for a larger gathering or for several smaller get-togethers through December. On a white table with fir greenery and a candle the green shows at its calmest. They are useful away from the dining table too: on the buffet, next to the punch jug or in the basket beside the cake. As a small something to bring along they work well, for example together with a candle for the host.

Fold the napkins simply, once into a rectangle or loosely into a triangle, so the winter scene with the sledge stays visible.

For a coherent table, choose a runner and candles in green, white or red, the same colours that appear in the motif. With 20 napkins there is no need to ration: put one at every place setting and keep a few back for the buffet. If you are hosting more than once, split the pack between Advent coffee and Christmas dinner. As a small gift to bring along, pair the napkins with a candle and a sprig of fir, so what you hand over already matches the host's table.
