Bean Sprouting Kit
CHF 24.95
Available
The Bean Sprouting Kit shows children directly how a dry bean becomes something alive. Eight screw-top jars are included, each filled with vermiculite — a lightweight mineral substrate that retains water without becoming soggy.
Pop the bean in, moisten slightly, close the lid and simply check each day what's happening. First it swells, then it cracks, then the sprout emerges, and eventually two small leaves stand in the jar. The process is so straightforward that you can easily keep a whole class engaged. Works equally well for biology lessons, project days or home experiments.
From Radis et Capucine, the French family company for growing kits since 1927. A wonderful gift for curious children, teachers and anyone who wants to experience nature up close.
What's included:
- 8 screw-top jars with vermiculite
- 8 beans
- Multilingual instructions
- Information about germination and plant cycles

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do the beans take to germinate?
Beans are fast germinators: you'll see the first sprouts after just 3–5 days. After 1–2 weeks, distinct leaves have developed. Perfect for impatient little researchers!
What age is this set suitable for?
From about 4–5 years with supervision. The set is intentionally simple and also excellent for nursery or primary school.
Do the beans need lots of light?
Indirect light is sufficient for germination. Once leaves appear, move the jars to a bright spot. Direct sunlight is not necessary.
Can I plant the sprouted beans?
Yes! Once the seedlings are strong enough, you can transplant them into a pot or garden bed. The experiment becomes a real plant.
Is this set suitable for school use?
Perfectly! With 8 jars, pupils can work in groups and compare germination. The instructions explain the plant cycle clearly. Ideal for biology or project days.
