All three pairs reach just below the knee and show the motif along their full length. With a skirt, with shorts or under boots that works straight away; with long trousers the pattern stays hidden. If you prefer them shorter, fold the leg over once in one wide fold, then they sit at calf height and still do not slip.

The black pair passes as an ordinary dark sock under long trousers; only when you sit down does the knitted pattern show. The lilac pair is the boldest and the one that photographs best. The pink striped pair sits in between and goes best with light trainers.

Kuromi appeared in the Sanrio world in 2005 as My Melody's rival. She wears a black hood with a pink skull, rides a motorbike, keeps a diary and has a noticeably bigger ego than the rest of the Sanrio family. That mix of punk attitude and kawaii makes her the favourite of the range. Her companion Baku, the small black creature with the grinning face, appears on one of the pairs.

The set suits everyone whose phone case, water bottle and backpack have long been Kuromi black: a birthday present among friends, something to bring along, or a small thank you. Because one pair is discreetly black, it also works for anyone who does not want to wear pink every day.

Wash the socks at 30 degrees in a laundry bag so the knitted faces stay sharp. Do not tumble dry them, otherwise the cuff at the knee will not last long. Wash the black pair separately from light laundry. When folding the leg over, make one wide fold rather than several rolls, then nothing slips.

The box stands up on its own and is ready to hand over without extra paper. Afterwards it works well on a desk for pens or hair ties.
