Old tomato varieties definitely don't taste like supermarket tomatoes. They are sweeter, spicier, sometimes almost smoky or fruity. That's what makes this seed set so exciting. Instead of a single standard variety, you get twelve historical varieties, each with its own character, colour and aroma.
Many of these varieties were previously grown for their taste and diversity, not for their transportability or shelf life. This means thinner skins, more intense flesh and authentic tomato flavours. From the juicy Coeur de Boeuf to the aromatic San Marzano and the dark, strong Noire de Crimée, you can create a range of flavours in your own garden or in a pot on the terrace that you will hardly find in shops.
The set includes both bushy, compact varieties and vigorous, climbing varieties. Determinate plants remain manageable and are well suited for pots or smaller areas. Indeterminate varieties continue to grow, need support and produce a yield over a longer period of time. Each bag contains enough seeds for at least ten plants. Depending on care and location, yields of up to 20 kg of tomatoes are possible.
