The giant craft box is a carton box with a carry handle that holds 22 different craft materials. The box is printed with «The Giant Craft Box by abeec», and small pictures show what can come out of it: a bee made from a cardboard tube and googly eyes, flowers from craft sticks, bracelets from beads and cord. This kids craft box replaces a shelf full of separate little packets.
Pipe cleaners, pompoms, tissue paper, sequins, foam, felt, corrugated card, foam balls, beads and glitter glue all sit in one box, together with craft glue, plastic scissors and elastic cord. As a big craft material set it suits families with crafty children as much as nurseries, playgroups, childminders and schools.
The contents list on the packaging names 22 items. Quantities per material are not stated:
- Assorted pipe cleaners
- Assorted pompoms
- Foam stickers
- Assorted tissue paper
- Assorted sequins
- A sticker sheet with gemstones
- Paper wool
- Assorted A5 foam sheets
- Craft glue
- Craft sticks
- Foam balls
- Googly eyes
- Assorted beads
- 5 glitter glues
- Star beads
- Plastic scissors
- Elastic cord
- A5 felt sheets
- Sequin hearts
- Corrugated card
- A cardboard tube
- Bubble wrap
The materials with texture stand out: corrugated card, the cardboard tube and bubble wrap give a model its body, while the A5 felt and foam sheets work as flat bases.
The packaging carries a grid of ideas. A cardboard tube gets googly eyes and turns into a bee, craft sticks become flowers, beads on elastic cord make a bracelet. Those examples help when children sit in front of the open box and cannot decide where to begin.
The craft glue and the five glitter glues handle joining and decorating, and the plastic scissors are made for children's hands and come in the box. There is barely any setting up to do, as everything sits together within reach.
Because 22 kinds of material sit together in one box, several children can work side by side instead of sharing one small packet. That helps in nurseries, playgroups and schools, and equally for childminders looking after mixed groups.
Once unpacked, the box keeps working, as it serves as storage for the materials. The carry handle makes it easy to move from the shelf to the table and back again, and small pieces such as beads, star beads and sequins stay together.
Tip beads, star beads and sequins into small bowls before you start, so everything stays visible and nothing rolls off the table. Lay out the corrugated card and the felt sheets first, and each child has a base to build on straight away.
As a birthday or Christmas present the box can be handed over almost unwrapped, since the carry handle means a ribbon around it is enough. Hold it back for a rainy day and you have a whole afternoon in reserve.
