Felt Christmas Stockings, Set of 4

You get four complete Christmas stockings, one per design. Hang them side by side along the mantelpiece, or spread them around the house, one per children's room for instance. That way every member of the family has a stocking of their own.

• 4 Christmas stockings made of felt in 4 designs
• Size per stocking: about 46 x 20 cm
• Material: felt
• For hanging up, by the fireplace for example
• For filling with small gifts
• Made in China

Each stocking measures about 46 x 20 cm, which makes it far bigger than a real sock. Four stockings of this size make a row you notice from the doorway. If you would rather not hang them up, simply fill them and set them on the gift table or next to the Christmas tree. The designs differ, while the format stays identical across all four.

The set works for families with children, where several stockings need to be ready at once on 6 December or on Christmas Eve. It also works for anyone who likes to decorate generously and wants the festive season to be visible from early December onwards.

It is a neat answer to the question of how to wrap small Christmas or St Nicholas gifts, too: instead of paper and tape, the little things go into the stocking, which then stays up as decoration. One set covers Advent, St Nicholas, Christmas and the decorating in between.

Hang the stockings up early in Advent, even while they are still empty: they already work as Christmas decoration. With several children, give each of them one design, so everyone knows which stocking is theirs without you having to add names.

When it comes to filling, small things are the obvious choice: sweets, pens, a little figure, a voucher, a note with a message. You can also fill the stockings gradually over several days, a bit like an Advent calendar. A single stocking from the set makes a charming wrapper when you bring a small present along: the wrapping paper is no longer needed, and the stocking stays behind with your host as decoration.
