Colouring Pencils with Rainbow Design, Set of 6

The contents are short and that is exactly what makes them practical: six colouring pencils and the box they sit in. Nothing to sort out first, nothing to assemble, and nothing that can go missing on the way to the party. Tidying up takes seconds, because everything goes back into one box.

• 6 colouring pencils
• 1 box with a rainbow design
• Contents: 6 colouring pencils, 1 box
• Intended as a party bag favour
• Made in China

Six pencils and one box are quick to pack. The set comes along while you wait for food in a restaurant, on a long train journey, or on a holiday evening when somebody suddenly wants to draw. Add a pad or a few folded sheets of paper and the drawing break is sorted.

At home the box is best given a fixed spot: next to the drawing pad on the kitchen table, in the drawer with the school things, or in the basket with the craft supplies. With only six pencils you can see at a glance whether one is missing, and children find their colours without a long search.

A party favour should be small, appeal to every child in the room and still be in use the next day. Drawing supplies do that reliably: they actually get used, and they suit girls and boys, younger and older guests at a birthday party alike.

There are plenty of occasions beyond birthdays: a surprise for the start of the school year, an extra alongside a bigger present, something to take to an afternoon at the grandparents' house, or a spare set in the cupboard for the next rainy day.

For a birthday party it helps to lay out several sets at once and write each guest's name on the box. That way every child knows which pencils are theirs and the sets do not get mixed up.

When drawing, paper works best on a hard, smooth surface, and a piece of cardboard under the sheet is already enough. For trips, slip the box into a zipped pouch with a small pad so everything stays together. And a piece of string tied around the box turns the little favour into a proper parcel.
