This 3D Christmas card is a greeting card and a paper craft project in one. The cover shows a snow-covered village at night with a UFO hovering above the houses, complete with its beam of light and no lettering at all. Open the card and you find space for your own message plus three craft sheets.
Once folded, the sheets become a grey 3D UFO with a neon yellow cone of light and Father Christmas floating inside it. The story behind the model, called UFO «Santa Goes Missing»: the UFO has abducted Father Christmas. It is made for everyone who loves humour and enjoys turning traditions upside down.
The idea is straightforward: you write the card, the person who receives it builds the 3D model, so they get a greeting and a small gift at once. The card has four sides, the cover at the front, space for your lines at the back, and three craft sheets in between, printed on both sides.
Assembly works with a simple folding and slot-in system, so no tools are needed. The build takes about 10 minutes and sits at level 3 of 5, the middle of the scale, which makes it an engaging project rather than a fiddly one. The folding instructions are in German, and the QR code on them leads to a video tutorial online.
The card comes in B6 format and is made of 240 gsm premium paper. The heavier paper feels firmer in the hand, gives clean edges when folded and helps the finished model stand more steadily.

Write your greeting on the back before you slide the card into the envelope supplied, so the three craft sheets stay untouched for the recipient. Pass on the folding instructions with the card: the QR code on them opens the video tutorial if a step needs a second look.
For building, a clear flat surface helps, as the card measures 50 × 17.6 cm opened out. The ten minutes fit neatly between two courses, so the UFO can sit on the table while you eat.
