Tablecloth Gold – 130 × 180 cm
Currently sold out – we'll let you know as soon as it's back.
This gold tablecloth is a plastic sheet measuring 130 × 180 cm that turns an ordinary dining table into a party table. The smooth surface sets no theme of its own: gold works with brightly coloured party plates and with plain white china alike. One single cloth is supplied, folded flat.
The cloth earns its keep wherever a lot is happening on the table. The material is water-repellent, so spills stay on the surface and wipe away with a damp cloth. After the party you can throw it out, or clean it, fold it and lay it out again at the next occasion. It is made in China.
At 130 × 180 cm the cloth covers tables up to 110 × 160 cm, which means four to six places. For a longer table, lay two cloths side by side with a slight overlap. Turned crosswise it gives more drape along the long edges, which looks tidier on a narrow table.

The material is plastic: a thin, smooth film that you can pull across the table top in one go and that adds barely any weight at 100 g. One person is enough to lay it, though on a long table a second pair of hands makes it quicker and flatter.
Straight out of the pack the film shows fold lines. Usually it is enough to smooth them with your hands, working from the centre outwards. Stubborn creases can be relaxed with a warm, not hot iron over a cotton cloth. Direct contact with the iron is out of the question, as the plastic melts.
The supplier names birthdays, children's parties and themed parties as its uses, and that is where the colour does its work: gold reads festive without being childish or stiff. At a children's party the film takes the icing, syrup and craft glue instead of letting it soak into the table top. At a themed party it forms the backdrop for garlands, balloons and decorations.
The cloth also works outdoors, on the terrace or on a garden table. In wind the corners need weighting, and several hours of strong sunlight can fade the colour slightly.
Put a fabric tablecloth underneath and plates and glasses rattle noticeably less. Confetti stays clearly visible on the smooth surface instead of disappearing into a weave. Outdoors, tablecloth clips or heavy vases at the corners keep the film in place.
To store it, wipe it with a damp cloth, let it dry completely and keep it folded somewhere dry. Once its party days are over it still serves as a drop cloth for painting before it goes into plastic waste.
What is included? One gold tablecloth measuring 130 × 180 cm, folded flat. Napkins, plates and other decorations are not included.
Which table size does it fit? Tables up to 110 × 160 cm, so four to six places. For longer tables, lay two cloths with an overlap.
Can I use the tablecloth more than once? Yes, with careful handling. Wipe it down, let it dry and store it folded in a dry place.
How do I get the creases out of the film? Smooth it with your hands from the centre outwards. If needed, use a warm iron over a cotton cloth, never directly on the plastic.
Can the cloth be used outdoors? Yes, on a terrace or garden table. Weight the corners in wind, as hours of sunlight may fade the colour slightly.
