No watering, no direct sunlight, no guilt when you escape on a summer holiday. Just a bit of patience, a few precise creases – and your desk turns into a mini jungle that lasts forever.
Perfect for anyone who has ever killed a succulent, for office heroes without daylight, for frequent travellers or as a creative gift for anyone who loves the urban jungle look. Inside the kit: 5 different botanical beauties, an illustrated step-by-step instruction sheet and a QR code linking to a video tutorial for folding beginners.
5 botanical classics to fold yourself
The five mini plants are no random selection – each one represents an iconic houseplant: the Snake Plant (Sansevieria) with its striking striped leaves, the Monstera with its signature window leaves, the Curly Spider (Chlorophytum) with its arching shoots, the Banana plant with large tropical leaves, and the Chinese Money plant (Pilea peperomioides) with its round coin-shaped leaves.
Each plant has its own folding difficulty – from beginner-friendly to a small origami challenge. The kit stays interesting on repeat folds, ideal for quiet afternoons, creative date nights or a shared crafting project with kids from about age 10.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about the Paper Plants Kit
Do I need previous origami experience?
No. The instructions are beginner-friendly with clear images at every step. If you still get stuck, just scan the QR code for the video tutorial – it shows every fold in real time.
How long does one plant take?
Depending on complexity, around 15 to 45 minutes per plant. Snake Plant and Banana are the fastest, Monstera and Pilea need more patience. Plan 2–3 hours for the full set – perfect for a relaxed Sunday afternoon.
Can I unfold the plants again?
Yes, as long as you don't use glue. Pure folded origami can be opened, flattened and re-folded. However, every fold leaves a crease – after 3–4 rounds the paper looks well used.
Are the plants water-resistant?
No, regular FSC paper is not water-repellent. Keep them away from splashes, real plant pots and humid rooms. Dry indoor climate is ideal.
How big do the finished plants get?
Between 8 and 18 cm tall, depending on species. The Banana is the largest, the Chinese Money the smallest. They all fit easily on a desk, shelf or windowsill.
Is a pot included?
No, the plants stand free. If you'd like a pot, fold a small origami pot or repurpose a toilet roll, plastic bottle or mini ceramic pot from a craft store.
Is the kit suitable for children?
From around age 10 with patience – younger kids will need adult help. A lovely shared craft activity with patience as the main ingredient.
Is the packaging really plastic-free?
Yes, 100%. Pikkii is a multiple Gift of the Year winner and prioritises sustainable design. Even the QR-code sticker is printed on recycled paper.
How long do the finished origami plants last?
With dry indoor storage, practically indefinitely. Direct sunlight over months can fade the colours – a half-shaded spot is ideal.
Tips & tricks for maximum fun
- Test fold first: practise complex folds on a regular sheet first – saves frustration on the actual kit
- Use a bone folder: a bone folder (or the back of a spoon) gives sharp edges and makes the plants more stable
- Gift bonus: pre-fold the trickiest plant (Pilea or Monstera) for the recipient – a small wow moment when they open the box
- Curate a mini jungle: arrange all 5 plants on a wooden board or tray – looks like a real botanical mini collection
- Tea date or yoga break: origami folding has been shown to calm – perfect mindfulness break between meetings
- Collect the sets: Pikkii has more origami themes in its range – combine them for a whole creative desk universe
Care & storage
- Store dry: humidity is the biggest enemy of paper origami
- Avoid direct sunlight: soy inks are UV-sensitive – partial shade extends the lifespan
- Blow dust off gently: don't wipe, no damp cloth – compressed-air spray or careful blowing is enough
- Travel box: if you want to transport your mini jungle, place the plants in a flat cardboard box with tissue paper between them
