The rules fit into one sentence: pick a card, put the kazoo to your lips, hum the tune and let the others guess. The 160 cards cover well-known songs as well as Christmas favourites, so a session is not limited to festive material. A kazoo turns humming into a strong, buzzing note that carries the melody and hides the voice behind it.

With two kazoos in the box you can play in two teams or pass a kazoo on after each round. No setup is needed: open the box, shuffle the cards and start. It also fills the gap between main course and dessert.

The game is made for families and groups who like to play and laugh together at Christmas. It is recommended for ages 7 and up, and because it is about melodies rather than knowledge, children, parents and grandparents all keep up in the same round.

It works at the Christmas Eve table, at a family gathering, at a work Christmas party and on into New Year's Eve. The house-shaped box also makes a small present or a stocking filler.

Split into two teams and pass one kazoo around within each team, so one person is always humming while the rest guess. If you want more competition, score a point for every song guessed correctly and play up to an agreed total.

Keep the card pile face down in the middle and draw so that only the humming player can read the card. When the game is over, cards and kazoos go back into the box, which keeps the set complete and ready for next year. At a family table it helps if one person reads out the English song titles.
