Tie-dye doesn't have to be loud: the Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit Pastel Party from America's favourite tie-dye brand brings 12 soft pastel shades to your textiles — blush, salmon, coral, butterscotch, lemon, avocado, mint, sky, periwinkle, lavender, lilac and orchid. Perfect for the trending soft pastel look.

How it works
- Prewash fabric (no fabric softener) and work damp
- Fill the bottle with water and shake well
- Tie the fabric and apply the colours
- Let set for 6–8 hours, rinse, done
Popular techniques
- Spiral: the classic — twist the fabric from the centre and apply colours in wedges.
- Crumple: scrunch it up, add rubber bands, go — perfect for beginners.
- Pastel rainbow: apply several pastel shades in bands — soft and harmonious.
- Ombre: let one shade fade from intense to light.
Tips and tricks for perfect results
- Prewashing is a must: wash without softener — finishing agents block the dye.
- Choose a white base: pastel shades look best on pure white fabric.
- Work damp: slightly damp fabric absorbs the dye more evenly.
- Setting time: at least 6–8 hours, ideally overnight.
- Rinsing: rinse with cold water until clear, wash separately the first time.
- Mix freely: pastel shades never clash — even wild combinations look harmonious.
Suitable fabrics
Best results on natural fibres like 100% cotton, rayon and silk. Polyester won't take the dye. Once set, the colours are permanently machine washable.
