The Rapunzel Tower advent calendar is not a calendar you hang up – it is one you build. 24 printed boxes of sturdy kraft board stack into a fairy-tale tower some 46 cm tall, topped with pointed roofs and the long braid falling from the window. Every box is a door, and every one pulls out on its own.

Everything is held together by stabilising rings: no glue, no scissors, no tools. That is exactly why children can join in, and why the tower can be taken apart in January and stored flat. Next year it stands again within minutes. A Rapunzel story to read aloud is included – chapter by chapter, matched to the 24 days.

  • 24 printed kraft board boxes – 12 at 48 x 44 x 72 mm and 12 at 48 x 44 x 55 mm
  • 24 number stickers to place as you like
  • Stabilising rings for assembly without glue
  • An accompanying fairy tale to read aloud
  • Assembled size roughly 46 x 12 x 13 cm
  • Reusable and stored flat

First you fold the boxes – they are die-cut and click into shape by themselves. Then they are fixed and joined into a tower with the rings. The larger boxes form the base, the flatter ones the upper floors, which keeps the tower steady.

Assembly takes a little under an hour depending on pace and makes a good joint project for a late November afternoon. Filling happens from the back or the top – each box holds roughly the volume of a small picture book, a praline, a marble or a little figure.

  • Fill the boxes before you stack the tower – the lower floors are much harder to reach afterwards.
  • Distribute weight deliberately: heavy contents at the bottom, light things like notes and stickers further up.
  • The numbers don't have to run in order. Mixing them turns the tower into a small daily search.
  • Small rolls of paper keep the boxes in shape when the filling is very flat.
  • The tower works beyond advent too – as storage for hair clips, marbles or Lego bricks in a child's room.

Do I need glue or scissors?
No. All parts are die-cut and joined using the stabilising rings.

How big is the finished tower?
Around 46 cm tall with a footprint of roughly 12 x 13 cm – it fits on any chest of drawers or wider window sill.

What fits inside a box?
The boxes measure 48 x 44 x 72 mm and 48 x 44 x 55 mm – room for pralines, marbles, small figures, jewellery or rolled-up vouchers.

Can I use the calendar again next year?
Yes. The tower can be dismantled, stored flat and rebuilt the following year. Only the number stickers are single use.

From what age can children help?
School-age children manage the folding on their own; younger ones help with filling and applying the numbers.
