The lid carries an oriental ornament in turquoise with gold-coloured lines, and the frame has a dark wood look. Inside, the playing field shows a light wood look with dark and red points. The body is built from 16 mm MDF and fully painted; the two layers of varnish are there to improve durability and looks. The playing surface also carries a special coex film that prevents scratches and wear.
There is no solid timber involved: frame and playing field show a wood look over painted MDF. Hinges join the two halves, and the magnetic closure keeps the board securely shut during transport and storage.
