The Mystery Squishy Dumpling is a soft squeeze toy shaped like a filled dumpling, complete with a printed face. It comes sealed inside a little basket styled like a bamboo steamer, and that is where the fun starts: from the outside there is no way to tell which design is inside. Only when the lid comes off does the dumpling show itself.
The basket is made for children and teenagers who like collectable figures and fidget toys. Seven designs belong to the series, including an ultra rare dumpling with rainbow glitter. For parents it is a handy little something to bring along: small enough for a coat pocket, and exciting enough that the moment of opening becomes the actual gift.
The basket is closed with a lid and keeps its contents hidden until you open it. Inside sits one single dumpling-shaped squishy. The packaging reads Play Hub Mystery Squishy Dumpling, Rainbow Glitter, 7 to collect, which sums it up neatly: one dumpling, seven versions, one of them with rainbow glitter. The basket itself looks like a small bamboo steamer, which suits the dumpling sitting in it.
Which design you get is down to chance. Choosing a specific one is not possible, not even on request. If you are after a particular colour, you need either luck or someone to swap with.
The series covers red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. On top of that comes the rainbow glitter dumpling as the rare version, announced on the pack as ultra rare. Collecting together with friends gets you to seven faster, because duplicate designs can be traded.
With six base colours, a growing collection makes it easy to see which dumpling is still missing. The glitter one is the rare version and correspondingly hard to come by.
The squishy can be squeezed and then returns slowly to its original shape. That slow rise is what defines this kind of fidget toy: squeeze, watch, squeeze again. The printed face gives the little dumpling its character.
- Soft squishy shaped like a filled dumpling
- Printed face
- Size: around 9 cm
- Sealed basket in bamboo steamer style with a lid
- Contents not visible before opening
- Seven designs to collect, one of them with rainbow glitter
- Series colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple
- Design cannot be chosen, it is down to chance
- Squeeze it and watch it return slowly to shape
As a party favour at a children's birthday the basket works well, because every child reveals their own design and nobody knows in advance who gets the glitter dumpling. It also fits into an advent calendar, and as a small reward in between it is quickly to hand.
If you buy several baskets, it is worth opening them together. Duplicate dumplings are not a loss but swapping material. And if you are hoping for the rainbow glitter dumpling, be patient: it is the rare version of the series, so a single basket is never a safe bet.
What is inside the basket? A soft squishy shaped like a filled dumpling with a printed face. Which of the seven designs it is only becomes clear once you open it.
Can I choose a design? No. The basket is sealed and the contents are not visible beforehand, so the version is down to chance.
How big is the squishy? Around 9 cm, roughly palm-sized and easy to tuck into a coat pocket.
How many designs are there to collect? Seven: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and the rare dumpling with rainbow glitter.
What happens when you squeeze the squishy? It gives way under your fingers and then returns slowly to its original shape.
