How do you get your own melody onto the music box? You punch the notes of your song into a paper strip with the hole punch, slide the strip into the music box and turn the crank.
Can you play something right away? Yes. The pre-punched Happy Birthday strip is included so you can start straight away.
Does the music box need batteries? No. The music plays when you turn the crank.
Can you play your own compositions too? Yes. You can punch any melody you like, including ones you write yourself.
