Wooden Bat House — A Sanctuary for Nature's Insect Hunters

Welcome bats into your garden! This handcrafted wooden bat house provides a safe, weather-protected roost for these beneficial mammals. A single bat can devour up to 4,000 mosquitoes in one night — chemical-free, natural pest control for your outdoor space.

Did you know? Over 500 plant species depend on bats for pollination

Bats do far more than control mosquitoes: they pollinate plants, disperse seeds and serve as a vital indicator of healthy ecosystems. With this bat house, you're actively supporting biodiversity right at your doorstep.

Frequently asked questions

Which bat species use the box?
Mainly small species such as the common pipistrelle, Daubenton's bat or the brown long-eared bat. Around 30 bat species live in Switzerland, many of which depend on roost boxes.

When is the best time to install it?
Ideally in spring (March–April), before bats emerge from hibernation. Boxes installed in summer and autumn can also be occupied.

Does the box need cleaning?
No. Bat roosts should not be cleaned — the animals would abandon them. Guano (droppings) on the ground is normal and a positive sign.

Will a bat bite or scratch?
Bats are shy and avoid humans. They do not attack. Important: never touch a bat with bare hands — if you find an injured one, contact your local bat protection charity.

Are bats protected in Switzerland?
Yes, all bat species in Switzerland are strictly protected. Roost boxes like this one are an important conservation measure.

What does "flat-packed" mean?
The box is shipped disassembled and screws together in a few simple steps before mounting. A screwdriver is all you need — illustrated instructions are included.
