Highland Coo Hatching Egg
This product will be released on 1 November 2026
The Highland Coo hatching egg is a small toy egg with a Highland cow inside that hatches when the egg is placed in water. That is all it takes: just place it in water. The shaggy cattle with the long horns, affectionately called Highland Coo in Scotland, are among the best loved animal motifs around, and here one of them is tucked inside an egg.
It is meant for children and for anyone fond of Highland cattle. The egg comes on its own in a printed box that is 6.5 cm high, 5 cm wide and 5 cm deep. That makes it easy to hand over without any extra wrapping: at a children's birthday party, in an Easter nest or as a small surprise in between. For a home-made Advent calendar it is one of the fillings that is not chocolate.
Inside the box there is one hatching egg with a Highland cow, and no further parts. The printed box takes on the role of the gift wrapping at the same time.
All you need is water: the egg is placed in water, and the Highland cow hatches from it. No other accessories are included.
The packaging is 6.5 cm high, 5 cm wide and 5 cm deep. The egg itself is made of PVC and PVA, two plastics commonly used for toys of this kind. It is manufactured in China. The toy is CE and UKCA marked and tested to the EN 71 toy standard.

An egg suits Easter anyway: it goes into the nest, into the egg hunt or onto the breakfast table. At a birthday party it works as a party favour for the guests, because each egg is packed on its own and costs very little.
Grown-ups who collect Highland cattle get it as a little hello, for instance with a card or in a gift bag. And anyone filling an Advent calendar by hand can put parcels like this one behind the doors that have a bit more room.
If you are treating several children, several eggs are worth it, so nobody at the birthday table is left watching. The egg also works as the theme for a whole present built around the Scottish cow, or as an extra alongside a larger gift.
In an Easter nest you can tuck it in among the chocolate eggs as a toy between all the sweets. The toy is not suitable for toddlers, while for older children it is an easy small gift: it costs little and comes ready packed.
