The appeal is in the decoration. Instead of one repeated motif, the pack brings together several gold patterns drawn from classic porcelain. Laid out on a table, they look like a dinner service collected over years, yet everything still belongs together because the gold runs through all of them.

That turns the plates themselves into table decoration. Paired with plain glasses, candles or coloured napkins, the table needs very little else. Even stacked at the start of a buffet they read as a small arrangement rather than as disposable tableware that is only there to do a job.

At a wedding the plates sit on the buffet beside the cake and the finger food, at a Christmas dinner they are part of a festively laid table, and at an Eid celebration they cover a long table with plenty of guests. They work just as well for birthdays, anniversaries, New Year's Eve and a garden party where nobody wants to carry porcelain outside.

The quantity is the practical part. Twenty-four plates cover a gathering of two dozen guests, or allow two plates per person at a smaller party if everyone swaps plates between two courses. Nothing has to be washed in between, so you can simply keep serving.

Stack the plates where guests start at the buffet and put the napkins and cutlery right next to them. When you set individual places, look at the patterns first and spread them so that neighbouring seats get different gold designs, which makes the table livelier.

If you want to carry the gold through the rest of the table, add candles, napkins or place cards in gold or cream. One pack covers a party of two dozen guests, while a meal with several courses is easier with two plates per person. Any plates left over fit back into the box and are to hand for the next occasion.
