Giant Sensory Mat Set, 36 Pieces

Every piece carries its own relief, and the reliefs differ not only in pattern but also in the height and firmness of the raised parts. Flat studded fields alternate with deep, sculpted motifs. That alternation is the point: within two steps the feet get two entirely different signals.

The colours run right across the palette, from strong blue, red and orange to muted pastels in mint, rose and sand. You can sort the pieces by colour, group them by motif or mix them deliberately.

All pieces share the same puzzle edge and connect in any order. A large piece measures 25 x 25 cm, four small pieces together fill the space of one large one. From that you build a continuous run along the hallway, a square in the child's room or a course that winds around the furniture.

Because the edges are cut the same on all ORTONATURE sensory mats, pieces from other sets fit too. An existing set can be extended with this one rather than replaced.

The motifs are a wander through nature and imagination. Some pieces carry fossils and tracks, others leaves, berries, cones or shells. Between them sit letter fields where names can be traced by touch, and purely geometric patterns of dots, domes and grooves.

For children this is an invitation to invent stories: which path leads through the forest, which tile is water, where does the crocodile wait. The surface sets the scene, the rest happens in play.

With 36 pieces the surface is large enough for several children at once without them getting in each other's way. Adults can walk across barefoot too; the pieces are not limited to children's feet.

The material is PVC. To clean, wash the pieces with soapy water and rinse with clear water. Let them dry, then connect them again. Because single pieces lift out, you never have to take the whole surface apart to clean one tile.

The layout adapts to the room just as easily: a closed rectangle in the child's room, a narrow run in the hallway, and in summer out on the terrace. Since every piece sits on its own, you rearrange the whole thing in a few minutes.
