These socks put dachshunds in a café, and the pair is made up of two different scenes instead of one repeated motif. On the first sock a brown dachshund in a blue beret sits on a red chair at a red bistro table, with a steaming cup in front of him. On the second, a dachshund wears a striped scarf beside a street lamp, watched by a small red bird. The base colours are yellow and light blue with red and brown: yellow cuffs, a light blue foot, dark blue toe and heel.
The illustration comes from Pauline Cremer and the socks are a special edition built around her drawing. The design takes its cue from small tables, long conversations and people-watching in Paris, which is where the beret, the lamp post and the bistro furniture come from. One pair is supplied, in size 36–40, and the socks are unisex, so they make an easy little present for anyone who likes dogs, coffee breaks and illustrated designs.
The two socks are deliberately not identical. Once they are on, your left and right foot tell two halves of the same café story: on one side the dachshund at the table with the steaming cup, on the other the dachshund in a scarf under the street lamp with the red bird keeping an eye on him. The dark blue toes and heels frame the illustration, while the yellow cuffs finish it off at the top. Each motif reads clearly on its own, so the socks also work worn as a mismatched pair on purpose.
