The Cable Car Advent Calendar is a calendar you fill yourself: 24 flat paper gondolas come in the folder, you fold them without glue, fill them and hang them on the string supplied. Lined up, the cabins look like a small cable car crossing the room, in the living room, the stairwell or a child's bedroom. Red and white cabins with turquoise windows give this gondola advent calendar its mountain railway character.
This red version is the classic one: roadtyping has called it its bestseller of the Christmas season for years. The calendar is designed in the Allgäu, printed in Bavaria and assembled with the Wertachtal Werkstätten in Kaufbeuren, a facility for people with disabilities. The gondolas are made of sturdy card, so you can fill them again next December.
Each of the 24 cabins has its own design and a number from 1 to 24. The motifs are printed on the outside, leaning against the door and the cabin wall: ski poles, an ice axe, a thermos flask with a cup, skis and a hat, a different winter scene on every gondola. A tab at the top holds each gondola on the string.
A single gondola is 11 cm high and 6 cm wide. Hang all 24 as one long garland or spread them over several shorter runs along a wall. The string is included.
The gondolas arrive flat in the folder. The card has pre-cut fold lines and the tabs slot into the cuts, so no glue is needed. Each gondola takes 2–5 minutes; with 24 cabins that adds up to a cosy evening or a craft session spread over several evenings.
Folding instructions are part of the set, and roadtyping also provides a video showing every step.
The material is high-quality, sturdy FSC®-certified card, printed on certified natural paper in Bavaria. The back of the folder carries the labels climate neutral, natural paper printed in Bavaria and collaboration with people with disabilities; the packaging print is multilingual. The gondola advent calendar is also available in gold-yellow.
- 24 paper gondolas, delivered flat, for folding
- Size of one gondola: 11 cm high, 6 cm wide
- Cabins in red and white with turquoise windows
- Every cabin individually designed, numbers 1 to 24
- Folding system without glue, 2–5 minutes per gondola
- 1 string for hanging and 1 set of folding instructions included
- FSC®-certified card, climate neutral, designed in the Allgäu and made in Bavaria
- Reusable: fill the gondolas again in the following years
The gondolas are delivered empty, so you fill them yourself. Anything that fits into a cabin of 11 × 6 cm works: sweets, small gifts, vouchers or handwritten notes.
Fold all the gondolas in one evening and fill them in order from 1 to 24. Hang the garland so that every door opens freely, and keep it indoors. As a gift for skiing and mountain fans you can also pass it on flat in its folder, so the recipient folds their own cable car.
Is the advent calendar filled? No, the 24 gondolas arrive empty and you fill them yourself.
Do I need glue to assemble it? No. The card has pre-cut fold lines and the tabs slot into the cuts.
How long does the folding take? 2–5 minutes per gondola, so one evening for all 24 cabins or a few shorter rounds.
How big is one gondola? It is 11 cm high and 6 cm wide, and the contents need to fit inside.
Can I use the calendar for several years? Yes, the card is sturdy and the gondolas can be filled again in the years that follow.
