The wooden barrel drink dispenser is a small tapped cask for the apéro table. It is modelled on a traditional barrel used for ageing wine and whisky, and it is made of pine wood, plastic and steel. Inside sits a removable bag, at the front the tap: instead of passing the bottle around, every guest pours their own glass.
Three litres fit inside, enough for around 24 glasses of wine or 48 whisky servings, so a whole evening with guests is covered. Two bags and two taps are included, which lets you switch between wine and whisky. The barrel is made in China and brings a touch of tradition and fun to the dinner table.
The set is built around two drinks: one bag with a tap for the wine, the second one for the whisky.

To fill it, you pull the tap out of the barrel and fill the bag with the drink of your choice. Then you reinsert the tap and serve right at the table, with no bottle and no carafe in the way.
Because two bags and two taps come along, you can change between wine and whisky. The bags come fully out of the barrel and are easy to wash, so they can be used again. The dispenser also works with standard-sized wine bags.
The barrel measures 20 cm in diameter and weighs 1.07 kg. That gives it a place on the dining table, on a buffet or on a sideboard with room for the glasses beside it.
Pine wood, plastic and steel are the materials the dispenser is built from. The shape follows a cask in which wine and whisky are aged, just scaled down to table size. The drink itself stays in the bag, and that bag lifts out of the barrel completely for washing.
The dispenser does not have to stick to wine and whisky: syrup, iced tea or a pre-mixed cocktail turn it into a self-service station at a summer party. It is ideal for still drinks; with carbonation the pressure can escape, so sparkling water and prosecco are better left in the bottle.
As a gift it suits weddings, housewarmings and milestone birthdays, especially for people who love having friends over. Add a bottle of wine or whisky and there is something to pour in straight away. If you are hosting yourself, fill both bags before the apéro and simply change between the two drinks later on.
