The Stitch Drawstring Gym Bag is the simplest form of bag there is: one pouch, two cords, one large Stitch on the front. Pull it shut, lift the cords over the shoulders, done. No zip, no buckle, no strap to adjust. That is why it becomes the bag used most often during the school week, above all by children who want to pack and close their things themselves.
The print covers the entire front: Stitch sits in the middle looking up with wide eyes, and behind him a gradient runs from pink through lilac to blue. The back is kept in a single colour. This is officially licensed Disney merchandise, made in Spain. At 80 g the bag barely registers inside a school bag.
The construction uses very few parts, and each one has a job. The two cords are guided through reinforced corners at the bottom and run through the same opening at the top. Pull them and the bag closes, while the same cords sit on the back as shoulder straps.

The classic use is the gym lesson: trainers, T-shirt and shorts fit in together. Because the bag is so light it gets used for plenty of other things too, from swimming kit and a snack for an outing to spare clothes at nursery or beach things in summer. When you travel, fold it up and you have a spare bag for shoes or dirty laundry.
It does not replace a backpack, it complements one: the backpack carries the weight, this bag keeps bulky and wet things separate. Books, a laptop or a pencil case with sharp pencils do not belong in it, as there is no padding and no fixed shape. For everything soft and light it is exactly right.
When you pull it shut, both cords run through the same opening at the top. It is quick and needs no zip that can break, but the opening is only gathered, not locked: if the bag hangs upside down, small items can slip out. Small things travel better in a pouch inside. The fabric is thin and unlined, so in prolonged rain the contents get damp.
Put trainers in a separate bag and the fabric stays cleaner. Wash at 30 degrees in a laundry bag, then let it air dry rather than tumble drying. Do not iron the print, as heat damages the motif. Write a name on the inside, because plenty of gym bags look alike in the sports hall. When carrying it, lay the cords over both shoulders instead of just one. As a small present it works well, filled with swimming things or added to a school backpack.
