Six soft sensory balls that all feel different: that is this set. Each ball has its own colour, its own shape and its own surface, from craters through curved and circular grooves to nubs, large bumps and protruding cones. Babies reach for them, feel them and roll them, and every ball gives the hands something new. The balls are light and easy for small hands to hold.
The balls sit in a white plastic tray with six wells, and the tray comes in a gift box with a clear window, so the contents are visible before unwrapping. An easy present for a birth, a christening or a baby shower. At home it is intended for tummy time, floor play and early movement development.
The six balls differ in size, shape and surface, and the tray with its six wells keeps each one in place. The Fisher-Price logo appears on the packaging and on one of the balls.

The orange ball is covered in craters, while curved grooves run across the pink one. The green ball has circular grooves, the light blue one nubs, the red one large bumps and the purple one protruding cones. At 7.5 cm the purple ball is the largest in the set, the orange and pink ones are the smallest at 6.5 cm, and the remaining three measure 7 cm.
Those differences keep the play going: a hand that has just felt grooves meets cones on the next ball.
The balls encourage grasping, hand-eye coordination and the sense of touch. They are made for grabbing, rolling, shaking and tossing, during tummy time, on the floor and in early movement activities. The packaging puts it like this: encourages baby to reach, pat, grab and enjoy sensory play.
Because the balls are light, a baby gets hold of them quickly. The manufacturer also describes them as durable and easy to clean.
During tummy time, put two balls with different surfaces in front of your baby, just out of reach. Incentive enough to stretch. Later you can roll the balls back and forth between you, turning touch into a shared game.
Do not hand over all six at once. Two or three hold the attention for longer and the rest stay in the tray. A ribbon around the box is plenty for a first birthday or Christmas.
