The Rocket Night Light is a 36.5 cm tall lamp for a child's room that combines three things in one object: night light, LED display with the time and ceiling projector. The rocket in red, white and grey stands on a cloud of matt plastic that glows from within, as if the exhaust had just been lit.
By day it is simply a rocket on the shelf; in the evening it lights the space beside the bed. An LED dot matrix sits in the porthole, a wide cone of light falls from the nose onto the ceiling, and everything is controlled with three buttons on the front of the rocket body. Power comes from a built-in rechargeable battery, and a charging cable with a USB-C plug is included.
The cloud at the foot glows warm and evenly, with no hard edges or glare: bright enough to find your way around the room, dim enough to fall asleep with. Because it lights the whole rocket from below, the object works as decoration too.
- Height 36.5 cm, rocket in red, white and grey on a glowing cloud
- Six projection motifs and six display motifs
- Operated with three buttons, no menu and no app
- Built-in rechargeable battery, charging cable with USB-C plug included
- Cloud is removable, the rocket is fitted onto it at home
- Gift box 28 x 21 x 17 cm, weight 0.8 kg
A wide cone of light fans out from the nose and lays a galaxy across the ceiling: not a pattern of dots but a coherent image with colour gradients. Six motifs are available: spiral galaxy, sun, planetary landscape and several nebulae in blue, violet and red. The effect is strongest in a dark room with a light, smooth ceiling; with sloping roofs, dark ceilings or wood panelling the image gets weaker. A chest of drawers roughly level with the middle of the bed, one to two metres below the ceiling, works best.
The round window in the rocket body is an LED dot matrix that can be switched. Alongside the time there are five images: a green alien head, a shooting star, a winking face, an explosion and a small rocket. Children who cannot yet read clock hands often already understand digits, so the question of whether it is time to get up can be answered without walking into the parents' room.
For the best projection, darken the room and place the rocket well below the ceiling. Do not put it right next to the pillow; a little distance makes the light more pleasant. Choose a level surface so it stands securely, and dust the cloud with a dry cloth only, without cleaning agents. As a birthday or school-start present the rocket arrives in a gift box of 28 x 21 x 17 cm; before the first evening it is worth charging the battery with the supplied USB-C cable.
Which three functions does it have? Night light, LED display with the time and ceiling projector, all controlled with three buttons.
How big is the rocket? 36.5 cm tall, including the glowing cloud at the base.
How is the device powered? By a built-in rechargeable battery. A charging cable with a USB-C plug is included, so no disposable batteries are needed.
Do I have to assemble the rocket? Yes, the cloud is removable. Body and cloud lie side by side in the box, and at home you set the rocket onto it.
Does the porthole only show the time? No, there are six motifs: clock, alien, shooting star, smiley, explosion and rocket.
Steepletone is a British brand making devices you are happy to leave out on display: retro-style record players, radios, Bluetooth speakers shaped like cars or footballs, and night lights for children's rooms. The thread running through all of it is the same — technology that looks like an object rather than a gadget.
