Pepin Olla Terracotta – Self-Watering Pot

Microporous terracotta is slightly permeable. When the soil around the vessel is drier than the clay, water moves out through the wall. As the moisture level rises again, the release slows down on its own. The plant takes the amount it actually needs, with no timer and no pump.

Setting it up takes a couple of minutes: bury the olla in the soil, pour water in through the opening, put the cork back on. The cork stopper holds back evaporation so the water reaches the root zone instead of being lost at the surface. After that, a weekly glance and a refill are all it asks for.
