A lobster clinging to your cup: the Lobster Tea Infuser by Winkee needs neither chain nor holder — the two raised claws simply hook over the rim while the perforated body hangs tail-down in the water.
That is the practical difference to classic infusers: no chain to tangle, no counterweight sliding off the rim. Claws over the edge and you are done. To lift it out, you grip the lobster by the claws, which have stayed dry.
The lobster is made entirely of silicone — unlike the chain-based infusers it contains no metal parts at all. Silicone copes with boiling water, stays soft enough to open for filling, and passes no flavour of its own into the tea. The packaging measures roughly 10 × 6 × 16 cm.
The strong red is not just decoration: it keeps the lobster clearly visible in the tea, especially in a glass cup. The contrast between red shell and amber brew is half the fun — and the reason this design tends to end up in photos.
An obvious pick for seafood lovers, for anyone nostalgic about the coast, or simply for people who drink loose leaf tea. Small enough for an advent calendar, affordable enough for Secret Santa, and a finished little present when paired with a packet of tea. Winkee supplies it in a printed hanging box.
- Do not fill it to the brim — leaves need room to open up
- Check that both claws sit securely over the rim before pouring
- Best in a glass cup, where you can see the lobster in the brew
- Empty and rinse straight after use; dried leaves cling stubbornly
- For strong varieties, an occasional soak in bicarbonate of soda helps
Does it really hold without a chain? Yes, the claws are shaped to hook over the rim. On very thick rims it is worth a quick check that it sits firmly before you pour.
Does it fit every cup? Normal cups and mugs, yes. Very thick-walled beakers and narrow espresso cups are the exception.
How do I clean it? Empty it, rinse under warm water and let it dry open. Winkee gives no guidance on machine cleaning, so cleaning by hand is the safe option.
Will the silicone stain? Red silicone shows discolouration far less than pale silicone. With very dark varieties the shade may still shift slightly over time.
Does it suit herbal and fruit teas? Yes. Coarse herbs and fruit pieces work well, while very fine teas escape through the openings more easily.
