The Hot Potato hand warmer is a small wheat grain pack in a baked potato design that is heated in the microwave. Inside the potato-shaped cover sits a removable pad filled with wheat seeds, and only that pad goes into the microwave. There is no click disc and no charging in boiling water: the warmth comes from the wheat seeds alone.
It is made for anyone whose hands get cold quickly and for everyone who likes playful food design. The hand warmer belongs to the Food Fun collection, which also includes the larger Hot Potato hottie of 15 x 3 x 20 cm, likewise a wheat pack for the microwave. As a small Christmas present, a Secret Santa gift or a little winter token, it does its job.
The hand warmer comes in two parts. On delivery the inner pad sits in a plastic bag, which you remove before heating it for the first time.

Take the inner pad out of the cover and remove the plastic bag. Place a small cup half filled with cold water next to the pad in the microwave. Heat it for 30 seconds at 500 to 750 watts, or for 15 seconds at 750 to 1000 watts. Make sure the turntable can rotate freely, and do not heat the cover.
Pause halfway through the heating time and shake the pad so the heat spreads evenly. Then check the temperature against your wrist or the inside of your elbow and use the pad only once it feels comfortable. Do not exceed the recommended heating times, as the temperature can still rise after you take the pad out.
The pad can cause burns: avoid prolonged direct contact with the skin and take care when taking it out of the microwave. Overheating can cause burns or fire, so let an overheated pad cool before handling. Keep it away from ignition sources, heat and open flame. The contents are not for eating and the heat pack is not a toy.
Once heated it is not for small children; before giving it to a child, check that the fastening of the cover is fully closed. The filling is a natural product and may feel slightly damp during the first few uses, and it contains wheat, so it is not suitable for anyone with a wheat allergy. Clean it as stated on the care label and store it clean and dry. A damaged inner pad should cool to room temperature before disposal in line with local regulations, never while hot.
Read the instructions and warnings before first use and keep them, so you can look up the heating times later. If you are giving the hand warmer away, mention that the pad belongs in the microwave and not in water.
Do I have to charge the hand warmer in boiling water? No. The wheat pad goes in the microwave: 30 seconds at 500 to 750 watts or 15 seconds at 750 to 1000 watts.
Is there a click disc inside? No. Inside the cover there is a removable cotton pad with a wheat seed filling, nothing else.
Can the cover go into the microwave? No, only the inner pad goes in. Do not heat the cover.
Is the hand warmer suitable for children? It is not a toy, and once heated it is not for small children. An adult should do the heating, and the fastening of the cover must be fully closed.
