Cat Food Tin Storage Box
This product will be released on 12 November 2026
This small storage box is shaped like a tin of cat food, the sort you might find in the fanciest pet food shop in town. Look closer and the joke is out: it is a round case with a zip running all the way around, and one pull on the gold-coloured zipper opens up a tin for all kinds of small bits. Cat food is definitely not part of the deal.
That is exactly why it works so well as a cat gift: it fools you at first glance and makes you grin at the second. The wrapper is pink with purple spots, a black cat glares out of it in a thoroughly grumpy mood, and the lettering reads Cat Food and Seafood Surprise, with 85g printed on as part of the tin design. The box belongs to the Checkout line, the food shop collection from Disaster Designs.
The lid is silver and carries a printed ring pull, just like the one on a real tin. There is nothing to pull open there, though, as the box opens by way of the zip. Inside it is lined in silver, and a small fabric loop with a Disaster label sits on the side.

At 7 x 9 x 9 cm the tin is handy and fits on a bedside table, on a shelf or in a drawer. It is meant as a jewellery box, and rings, stud earrings, earphones, coins, paper clips, hair clips or sewing bits could all go inside. Because the outside looks like pet food, the box stands out among books and ornaments instead of vanishing on the shelf.
This is a present for cat lovers who take their own moggy with a sense of humour, especially one that likes to pull a grumpy face. Anyone with a taste for slightly odd decor will enjoy it too. Its size and character make it right for a birthday, a Secret Santa round, a small something to bring to dinner, a modest Christmas gift or a housewarming present that goes straight onto a shelf.
Put it on the bedside table and you have a landing spot for the rings and studs you take off in the evening. As wrapping it does double duty: tuck something small inside, a ring, a few vouchers or a short note, and skip the paper, because the tin itself stays behind as a gift. For maximum effect at a Secret Santa, stand it among the real tins or next to the cat bowl. One thing to avoid is filling it with pet food or anything edible, as it is made as a storage box rather than a container for food.
Is there cat food inside? No. The 85g mark and the Cat Food and Seafood Surprise lettering are part of the design, and what you get is an empty storage box.
How does the tin open? Through the zip that runs all the way around, with its gold-coloured zipper. The ring pull on the silver lid is only printed on.
How big is the tin? It measures 7 x 9 x 9 cm and weighs 54 g, so it sits comfortably in one hand.
What is the box made of? PVC, with a silver lining inside.
Can I store food in it? It is intended as a storage box for small items, not for pet food or anything edible.
