How to prepare mate step by step

1. Fill the cup: Add your chosen mate variety until the cup is about two-thirds full.
2. Tilt and shape: Tilt the cup to one side so the leaves form a slope with a small well on the lower side.
3. Pre-moisten: Pour a small amount of lukewarm water into the well to let the leaves swell.
4. Insert the bombilla: Place the bombilla into the moistened well. Do not stir from this point on!
5. Add hot water: Heat water to 70–80 °C (never boiling – it burns the leaves and makes the mate bitter). Pour slowly into the well next to the bombilla.
6. Enjoy and refill: Drink the cup empty and pour fresh hot water. A good mate can be refilled up to 15 times.

What water temperature is ideal?
70–80 °C is perfect. Never use boiling water – it burns the leaves and destroys valuable nutrients. Tip: let the water cool for 3–4 minutes after boiling.

How much caffeine does mate contain?
About 70 mg per cup (coffee: ~120 mg, green tea: ~35 mg). Thanks to theobromine, the energy release is smoother and longer-lasting – no coffee crash.

Are the bombillas reusable?
Absolutely. The stainless steel bombillas are rust-proof and last indefinitely. Simply rinse under running water after each use.
