The Hot Potato is a heat pack filled with wheat seeds that you warm in the microwave, despite its hot water bottle name. No water goes in: inside the baked-potato cover sits a removable inner pad of wheat seeds, which spends a few seconds in the microwave and then slides back in. The maker calls it a Microwavable Hottie.
This microwave heat pack is for anyone who gets cold quickly and likes playful food design. The Hot Potato comes from the Food Fun collection and makes a small winter present, a Secret Santa gift or a Christmas surprise.
Two parts belong together here: the cover and the inner pad. The cover opens with a fastening, so you can take the wheat pad out whenever you need to. On delivery the pad sits in a plastic bag, which you remove before heating.

Take the inner pad out of the cover and remove the plastic bag. Put a small cup half filled with cold water next to the pad in the microwave and make sure the turntable can rotate freely. Heat for 30 seconds at 500 to 750 watts, or 15 seconds at 750 to 1000 watts. Do not heat the cover.
Pause halfway through and shake the pad so the heat spreads evenly. Check the temperature against your wrist or the inside of your elbow and use it only once it feels comfortable. Do not exceed the recommended times: the temperature can rise further after you take the pad out, and overheating can cause burns or fire.
This heat pack can cause burns: avoid prolonged direct contact with the skin and take care when removing it from the microwave. If it has overheated, let it cool first. Only adults should operate the microwave, and heating happens under adult supervision. Keep it away from ignition sources, heat and open flame, and do not eat the contents.
Wheat seeds are a natural product, so the pad may feel slightly damp during the first few uses. Clean it as stated on the care label and store it clean and dry. If the inner pad gets damaged, let it cool to room temperature and dispose of it in line with local regulations, never while hot.
Read the instructions and warnings before use and keep them. Stick to the stated seconds rather than guessing.
If you give the Hot Potato away, say straight away that no water is involved. Before handing it to a child, check that the cover's fastening is fully closed. If you are unsure about a wheat allergy, ask first, because the filling is wheat seeds.
